My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

2014-11-28: Dakota is a true gentle giant. Standing 26 inches tall at the shoulder and 36 inches to top of head when standing, he is 85 pounds and may still be growing as he is estimated to be 1.5 years old. He is kind and gentle with good manners, well behaved and happily takes commands. Easy on the leash and loves to play and have fun at the beach with other dogs. Can be very playful, and he is big and strong. Gets along well with all dogs, does not challenge or act out with other dogs, even when challenged. He is very loyal and stays close, a true companion for the right family or person. House broken and very respectful of surroundings. Very smart! He is able to figure things out quickly, learns from experience and wants to always please. Likes water, swam for first time having loads of fun at the river jetties in salt and fresh water.

He shows no signs of fetch and retrieve, although has a soft bite when carrying about his toys or delivering your shoes. Does not chew or dig, is very careful when moving about. Travels very well in the car and very patient when together and waiting in car. He is surprisingly agile and polite with children and all adults. He has a good appetite, needing approximately 4 cups a day, needs lots of exercise, and lots of attention. Plan on it taking many days for him to feel safe and not abandoned at his new home, so a stay at home situation, or take along companion would be ideal. He is a loyal companion with a warm loving disposition and will make a valued family member to the right home. He loves his cuddles!
