Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Captain is around 5 yrs old and came to us from a Kansas shelter. Being from farming community he probably just ran the property going from home to home living life in the moment with no direction or guidance from people. He landed with a family who took care of him when he was around but soon realized he was not a good farm dog having such a high prey drive and could not be around chickens or cats. This owner told the shelter that he is good with kids but no specific ages were given. Knowing Captain we think any child that is taller than he is would be fine, no reason other than to be on the safe side. Captain is good with all dogs of any size or breed but would be fine as an only dog since he is very picky on who he will play with. He is a very sweet boy and he needed extra help when he arrived to our group so we enrolled Captain in a Board and Train program with Uptown Dogs and Brian Bergford as his personal trainer. Captain spent 6 weeks working on his social skills, manners and of course obedience training. We are happy to say that he has made amazing progress and is now ready for his forever family. Since he has been taught a certain way it will be important that his new family work with his trainer to learn how he was trained so they can take up with the same handling. If you are interested in Captain, the follow up training should consist of 3 sessions with Brian and he will do those sessions for $75/hour at his center which is Uptown Dog Center in Longmont or any surrounding area so that it is more convenient for you. And if necessary Brian can be close enough to do in-home training to help get Captain established in your home. It is important for the adopter to learn how to work with captain and stay consistent with his training methods to achieve great success. There will also be a charge for his training equipment and this will be discussed if you are interested in bringing this professionally trained sweetheart into your home. Which btw, did we mention that he is a total love and enjoys being with his people, he is very affection and eager to be by your side soaking up lots of attention. We are looking for a home with a person who wants to take training seriously and have a true loyal companion by your side.
