Meet Hazel!
Hazel, a petite, 7-lb. Yorkie, loves life! She loves being with her foster parents, especially her foster dad (more on that later). She takes joy in every little thing -- eating, playing, sleeping, snuggling, going for walks -- and she wants nothing more than to be with her favorite people. She even likes kids and other dogs!

Because she's little, Hazel can sometimes be fearful, and needs a patient forever family who will take it slow (and encourage everyone around Hazel to do the same). Once she trusts you, you're friends for life!

Hazel really enjoys her walks! She waits patiently for foster mom to get her shoes on, and then they head outside to show off Hazel's leash walking skills. This energizer pup can actually walk further than her foster mom thought!

Hazel's foster family is working on basic obedience commands -- she has a little trouble with "off," just because she loves to jump up to give her people kisses! Her house-training is going well, though when she gets scared or excited she still has the occasional accident. Hazel is still working out how to let foster mom and foster dad know when it's time to go outside -- until then, they take her out regularly to minimize accidents in the house.

Hazel has just started crate-training. Because she's such a good girl, she has access to her foster family's first floor and crating hasn't been necessary. She has a crate and is very happy to go in there if there's treats to find!

Now, onto Hazel's love for her foster daddy! For some reason, she follows him all over the house. She appreciates foster mom's care, feeding and love, but there's just something about foster dad!

When Hazel arrived at Canine Cupids, she was treated to a much-needed spa day. To keep her looking great, she'll need regular trips and a daily combing -- no big whoop!

Hazel’s adoption fee is $150 and she’s located in Greendale, WI. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
