My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apollo is an American Bull Dog mix from Lorain County Kennel. He was taken out of the kennel because he was sick with kennel cough and depressed from being there so long. Apollo is healthy now and we have learned he has some anxiety with new things. He is VERY loving and friendly with people and is fine with dogs of all sizes but with any other animal - chickens, cats, horses, goats, squirrels, anything - we don't believe he was ever exposed to these things and it causes him to get stressed. When he is stressed he barks at a high pitch and focuses intently. He has been de-sensitized some with cats but we don't feel a home with cats is a good idea and he will not be placed in a home that has cats.

Apollo knows how to escape from wire fencing so a fenced yard is needed but must be privacy fencing.
He is currently living in a kennel type environment and he never messes in his room and goes to his room when told to. He is NOT food or toy aggressive. You can take bones from his mouth without a reaction. With a pinch collar he does walk nicely.
He has a bark that sounds tough but when it comes to other dogs and people he is not aggressive towards them.
We believe Apollo is about 4 years old. He loves toys and often carries a blue squeaky bone around like a baby with a pacifier. Apollo is a nice dog but living on a farm or in suberbia is not going to work for him since there are cats, squirrels, etc.

Apollo has been living in a rural foster home, the house are not close together but easily you can walk to the neighbor's. He is walked several miles a day down rural or country type roads and through a wooded area. He LOVES IT! He did become stressed when he encountered a few snowmobiles, we don't believe he knew what they were.

Apollo is a great dog but we believe he wasn't exposed to much in his previous life. He was either kept isolated in a back yard on a chain or in a kennel or was kept in doors and not socialized with others. He would make a good family dog for someone that lives in a more rural location but can not be a farm. All the other animals make him have high anxiety. He doesn't mind being an only dog or having dog siblings. He is fine with kids of all ages, even a wobbly 1.5 year old.
He would even make a great office dog...spending his days in the office and roaming the warehouse at night to keep away unwanted visitors human or mice/rats/moles.

Apollo deserves a chance at a life!
