My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Theresa: 1 to 2 yr old female White Mitted Calico Maine Coon

Named for Mother Theresa, this girl came into foster with two tiny kittens. The shelter was going to ear tip her and put her out on the streets. That would never do for this affectionate, beautiful girl. She was a good, patient mom for her kittens but now in her own private room she definitely prefers life after motherhood. ("I am done!" she says.) For her new home, her first choice would probably be to be the only cat in the house. I expect she could adapt to living with another non-dominant kitty if needed. I don’t know about dogs. (I expect she would put them in their place, asap.) She is probably always going to want to be the boss. You know how calicos are.

Calicos are known for having strong opinion. One opinion is that Theresa likes all four feet on the floor during a photo shoot and in life in general . Wiggle wiggle wiggle. When you pick her up, she is nice about it, but she disapproves. ”Put me down!” When you put her down, she comes to you and says, “Ok. That’s better. Now want to pet me? Here I am.”

You can see what a colorful, silky coat she has. Her coat is unusually vivid -- these are not photoshopped colors. Her tail has some of the longest hair I have ever seen on a cat. -- some of it is 4 or 5 inches long. In the first photo, you can see her tail’s a very unusual, rich auburn color. She is a beauty and it is a joy to stroke and pet her.

Theresa loves attention from humans though she starts out a little shy with new people. Then she solicits your touch and pushes her head very hard down into your petting hand . She is young and was a child bride with this, her first litter. She is just growing up out of her kitten stage and is ready to be pampered and spoiled. Enough of motherhood; her diva side is ready to shine.

She will be a great, photogenic companion to some lucky family.

She eats wet and dry and is litterbox perfect.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
