My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have an extra dark ebony male chinchilla looking for his new home. His name is Scottie. Scottie came to the rescue, along with four other chinchillas, when his family moved out of country. He is approximately 2 years old, as of December 2014.

Scottie is a sweet chinchilla. He is curious and likes to explore. He’s not shy about looking into something new that you put in the cage, and he wants to know what’s going on around him. He enjoys rosebuds immensely. He does well with being handled and petted. He does not bite.

Scottie would do well as a “first chinchilla” for someone who has never had one before.

Scottie has gotten along with other chinchillas in the past. However, he is currently housed alone, and we cannot guarantee that he will get along with your chinchilla.

As with all of our chinchillas/rescues, Scottie will come with 2 pounds of food to start you out (Mazuri pellets), a baggy of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet.
He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell everything from hammocks to cages and everything in between – anything you could possibly need or want for your new chinchilla.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Scottie is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).

The adoption fee for Scottie is $100
