Meet Charlton Heston - a sweet, silly, bundle of fun. He's a wire haired dachshund. If you have any experience with them, you know they are the clowns of the dachshund world. Charlton is about 2+ years old & weighs about 17 lbs. While he did test positive for heartworms, we are treating him for that. Charlton does have a funny little hop to his back end, but it doesn't slow him down. The vets think it is an old injury that has now healed over. All he needs is a family to play with.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Charlton Heston will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm treated, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
