Amethyst's Story...
Amethyst is a gorgeous, 2-3 year old tortie. She was rescued from outside during TNR work, and–surprise–had a litter of kittens on the way to the vet! Those kittens have since found their forever homes, and now it is Amethyst’s turn.

Amethyst is a sweet girl with a fierce spirit. She likes to play, has lots of energy, and is looking for a loving family. Her fosterer writes that she probably needs to start out as a single kitty, in a home with someone with loads of love to play and socialize her with people and then introduce her to other kitties.

She has been fully vetted and is ready to find her forever people. Could that be you? Write to us at hydeparkcatsadoptions@gmail.com to learn more about adopting Amethyst!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Amethyst, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
