My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Missy and I am an 8 yr. old blind beagle that is looking for a loving home for the New Year. I was rescued by PABR in Aug. 2013 after my previous owners surrendered me to a shelter in New York City. Apparently they did not want to deal with my blindness any longer. I realize that it might be a challenge for some people to deal with a dog that cannot see anymore, but I don’t think it was fair for them to leave me at the shelter. Thank goodness Penny Angels came along when they did and they were kind enough to rescue me!!

Shortly after arriving in Rescue they learned that I had an elevated liver count, so they kept a close eye on me. Right now, I am happy to report that my labs are perfectly normal! This is the reason why I am finally ready for a new home! PABR gives me a daily nutritional supplement, Denamarin, and it helps improve my liver function. It probably would benefit me to stay on this supplement after I am adopted. I should also receive periodic lab work, as per your vet, to make sure I remain healthy for you!

Since I am blind, it would be best for me to find a home with older children who won’t startle me with quick or unsteady movements. My new owner will have to adapt to my disability and do things a little differently with me, but I am a quick learner. I would be fine in a home with another dog my size, but I haven’t been around cats so I don’t know how I would react to them. I am house-trained for the most part and will bark to let you know that I have to go outside, but I might have an occasional accident at night. I won’t mind using the crate if you have to go out to the store. In fact, it would probably be safer for me that way.

I am a good girl that has been doing fine in Rescue the past year, but now it is time for me to move out and find my own place. Could that place be with you? Contact Penny Angels to learn more about me and to see if we are a good fit for each other.
