Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The Poodle/Shih Tzu mix (breed is according to shelter vets in Kansas) is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be a great, portable size for being out and about or taking up a small spot on their favorite person's bed. They do require a certain amount of exercise (all dogs do) and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to love a walk through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their humans and canine friends.
Tate is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Poodle while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Shih Tzu. Tate appears to be a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Tate's coat will grow in shining, cottony-soft and less likely to shed.
Tate's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Tate is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Tate's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Tate goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Tate is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breed mix. At about 1.5 years old and approximately 12 lbs, Tate seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Tate in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Tate would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. He will be a joy to be with and his favorite person will have a forever lap-warmer. Tate doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle like-sized dogs.
We've requested that Tate be neutered in Kansas. Sometimes these requests get lost in the details of rescuing large numbers of dogs. Farfel's will be happy to cover the costs of neutering and microchipping at our Denver vet when Tate arrives on transport.
Tate will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 1/14/2015. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and endearing guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
