My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a sweet and kind SchnauzerX our Rocky is! At 18 - 24 months old and 13 lbs, Rocky is a beautiful guy with an adorable and scruffy Benji-like face. He has the most expressive eyes that speak of hope for the future.
We'd like to share this summary from Rocky's wonderful Texas foster mom:

Rocky is an awesome little dog...absolutely no doubt about it! He is very quiet, gentle, well mannered and calm. He does not bark, jump on people, nibble on people, get in the trash, or beg. He ALWAYS goes to the bathroom outside! The first night Rocky was in my home, he got a bath and was very cooperative... just perfect! He loves to let us pet him all over. He's very loving and the best snuggler ever.. but not at all demanding of attention. He's just very respectful!
When Rocky first came to me, he would pull away (he had no idea where he was) on the leash, but he's doing so much better now. He just trots along happily..could be the sweetest dog ever. He does not know any commands (would be so capable of quickly learning anything-SO smart!), but he does know how to fetch, return and drop his toy. This fun guy would be so great for kids...maybe 8+ or super-gentle because he's a smaller dog. He loves to play, especially when I return from being away. He does not go into his kennel willingly (most likely reminds him of the shelter) but is fine once he's in there with a treat. . He does want out of his kennel right away when I get home. I play with him shortly after getting home as playing fetch makes him so happy. Rocky has free range of the house during the night. He did so well and even let me know one night when he absolutely had to go out. Rocky loves being able to come in and out of the house during the day (doggie door highly suggested).. He also loves riding in the car just laying in the seat..perfect and appropriate companion! Rocky has been so perfect and fun for my 13yo son and his friends...they love him! Overall...a true find of a dog for any family! just a totally sweet, low -key kinda guy.

When Rocky was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring him to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado.
Farfel's Rescue has determined that Rocky needs a super-loving home where he is an active and important member of the family. We feel that he would be overjoyed in a family with gentle kids to play with or an active adult home (retirees would be perfect) where the dog often plays a central role. Rocky would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together out and about (he's a social guy).

It is Rocky's sweet love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put Rocky through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Rocky has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Rescued Pets Movement of Houston and Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of mellow time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.

We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Rocky as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails quiet time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as he grows healthily heartworm-free.

Rocky will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/23/2015. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and endearing companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
