Dixie Stix's Story...
Dixie Stix is a very affectionate 1 year old black lab mix. She is around 50 lbs at this time and absolutely gorgeous. She knows how to sit, loves to roll over for a belly rub, walks well on a leash, and is not much of a barker. She is crate trained and housebroken. Dixie does not appear to have had much socialization with other animals at this point in her young life. She can get along with other friendly dogs after taking a little time to get to know them so she can relax and not feel like she needs to defend herself. She does not pay much attention to cats until they try to get close to her, then she will go after them. However, she responds well to corrections to this behavior. At this time Dixie's biggest issue is being protective of her food with other animals. Her foster family is working on socializing her with both dogs and cats, and she has already shown improvement in just a short time. At her young age and with her sweet disposition we are hopeful she will be making many new furry friends soon! Dixie is extremely loving with people and would make a wonderful addition to a home with no other pets, or a home that is willing and able to help her continue learning to be a member of a multi-pet family. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie Stix, a Bedford Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Bedford, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Bedford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bedford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bedford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bedford paves the way for another one to be saved.
