My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Abbie is a beautiful 3 yr old red dapple girl who is closely bonded with her friend Jake. She is the lighter of the two in the photos.

Jake and Abbi are a closely bonded pair. They love to cuddle together when they sleep and don't get too far from each other on their walks. Jake likes to burrow under some cover when he naps but Abbi is more inquisitive and likes to be able to look around while she dozes. When it's bedtime, you can usually find Jake already nestled in his crate.

Jake gets very excited about treats and has learned to sit, stand up, and shake for his treats. Abbi is a little less interested in performing but she loves her treats, too.

Both Abbi and Jake are extremely affectionate and snuggle every chance they can. They provide lots of warmth on chilly winter evenings.

If you are interested in adopting Abbi, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Abbi 's adoption fee is $300. Adopted together Jake & Abbi's fee is $525. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Abby will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
