Romeo's Story...
Meet Romeo, a 6-ish year old pit mix that came to us from our Newark facility in search of a wonderful family of his own. When we say he's special, we truly mean it. You've never met a dog quite like Romeo. Our veterinarian was hugging and kissing him before she sent him back after his neuter, she didn't want to let him go. When he was sitting in our front office, at least 20 people walked by him that literally could not pass him by without stopping to pet and hug him. He is THAT nice. There's just something about him that draws you in. Romeo had a tough upbringing and came into our Newark facility back in August 2014. He was completely emaciated and had an old break in his leg that was left untreated. The fine staff at AHS Newark took fantastic care of him and transformed him into the beautiful dog that you see here now. Romeo has come to us in the hopes of getting noticed by a family that will give him a loving, quiet home. He is calm, quiet, and perfectly behaved. He would like a home without a lot of commotion. He adores people and doesn't seem to mind other dogs. He truly is a gem and if you come and meet him, we'll bet you that you can't pass him by without hugging him too. File#24339 1/29/15

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Romeo, a Forked River American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Forked River, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
