Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is what was written about Penny: “My name is Penny and I am a 6-7 year old, 35 lb. beagle. (I was rescued, so no one knows for sure about my real age.) I am such a special dog and my family is very upset to have to find me a new place to live, but it is due to situations beyond their control; I need a more sedentary home. Currently, I live with two cats, a hyper, large dog, and soon-to-be TWO children under two years of age. I have two herniated disks in my back, which you can see is an issue with all the commotion going on all the time! My condition is not severe, but to avoid re-injury, I should be in a home without other dogs or small children. I can walk and run, and I just want to be a dog, but I don’t know when to stop and sometimes overdo it playing with the other dogs. This leaves me sore and hobbling around for a few days afterwards due to my pain. As soon as I feel better, I am off running with the dogs again and the cycle continues! To prevent this I have been in my crate a lot to avoid any re-injury. My owners just think that I deserve a home where I can have lots of love and where I won’t be surrounded by a lot going on due to my condition.
“I am not aggressive in the slightest. I am a sweet girl and I love to snuggle & give kisses. I also love belly rubs! I get along well with kids and people, but again, if I find a new home with kids, they need to be able to let me rest when my back hurts. I also should not be playing fetch or other active games; I need to take it easy! I like going for walks and lying in the sun outside. I am fully crate trained and love my crate. I even tuck myself in at night under a blanket! I love food and I am really smart. I bark when people approach the door, but I am not a loud beagle; I do not bark or bay routinely. I think my ideal home would be with a sedentary family or an elder who is looking for a companion. My family is sad, but they love me and want what is best for me. For that, I am thankful. I believe there is a perfect home out there and it is one that can accommodate my needs. I have a lot to give back and have the biggest heart you will ever meet! If you are looking for an amazing dog and you have a calm home environment, then you are a match for me!”
