My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Milo 3 and I”m just the handsomest pure bred 3-year-old male yellow English Labrador Retriever ever! I weigh 75 lbs. and grew up in Santa Barbara with my brother Coby 3 and my sister. When our family couldn”t take care of us anymore they contacted SCLRR. But then we escaped from the yard when someone left the gate open and ended up in a shelter. Thank goodness SCLRR found us and got us out in just 2 days! That was a scary ride.

Even though I have a pedigree, my foster mom says I”m still a ’diamond in the rough” because I grew up outside without any training. But she says I”m already living up to the English Lab”s reputation of being eager to please, intelligent and sweet natured. She says I”m going to be a GREAT dog with a little bit more obedience training. In just one week I”ve learned sit, stay, and I”m working on down (I”ll do just about anything for a treat!). I”ve also been house trained — okay I had one accident but it was the day I got neutered and I wasn”t feeling so good. I”m learning to walk well on a leash. My foster mom uses a pinch collar to keep my exuberance in check since I”m such a strong wiggly guy. I really hope I”m adopted by a family that wants to continue working on obedience with me.

I don”t mind a crate as long as I”m in a room with another dog or with people, but I prefer a comfy dog bed or laying at your feet. I get along great with my foster brother but mostly I love being petted by my foster mom and anyone else for that matter! My foster mom calls me her sweet, beautiful boy and lets me put my head in her lap for ear rubs. I just love to be near her all the time and follow her from room to room. I also love kids but sometimes I get pretty excited and jump a little so I should probably be with school age kids. I am ALWAYS ready to play — fetch-the-ball, tug-o-war, chase (with my foster brother) – but I settle down nicely when it”s not playtime.

I wasn”t quite sure what to make of the cats in the house at first, and I barked and growled at them, but now I”m fine with them. I try to play with them but they aren”t really interested in that — actually they can be pretty rude about it, but I guess that’s just the way cats are. I think I could be an only dog with an active family that spends a lot of time with me, but I would really love to find a forever home with another dog. Take me home with you and I really will be your best friend forever!
