Shiny is an eighteen-month-old Maltese mix, likely Maltese with Dachshund who came to Fuzzy Pawz after a long flight from California. She was a matted mess and was very shy so a shelter was no place for her. We go her all cleaned up and helped her get her confidence back and now she is ready to find her forever home!
This little one is what we call a Velcro dog, very friendly and wants to be next to her person all the time. She doesn’t like to be left out of walks, car rides, or even trips to another room, and will whine if that happens. She would prefer to sleep with her person, but is willing to be in a crate so long as it is in the same room.
Shiny is housebroken and knows how to use a dog door. She needs a little work with the leash, because while she doesn’t pull, she has a tendency to get a little tangled up at the beginning of a walk until she settles down to walk by your side. She loves to go in the car, but has to be discouraged from sitting on the driver’s lap; crating or a harness seatbelt is the best option for her safety and yours.
As a Maltese mix, she will need regular grooming to avoid matted fur. She will need to be on a grain free diet to control a grain allergy.
Shiny is good with other dogs in play and just chasing around, but she is a little territorial of her person and will sometimes growl at the other dogs if they get too close. We have been working on this while in foster care and her new home will need to continue working on this so Shiny remembers it’s nicer to share.
She is friendly to strangers once she gets to know them; she is quite vocal and skittish when she first meets them. She will need continued socialization to help her improve her greeting skills, she just needs time to warm up to people. Because Shiny is unsure of strangers she will need to go to a home with no children under 15.
This 9 pound beauty has a lot of love to give and will make someone who has a little patience and a gentle heart a wonderful companion.
Shiny has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
