My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dogs like Cooper are tough to come by- he is the total package of affectionate, friendly, sweet, well behaved and gentle- a true family dog. Cooper loves his people and his dog buddies, and would be so happy to find a family that will repay this love every day. Cooper’s tail does not stop wagging, hence the name! He will show you his wiggly happiness when you come home, you talk to him, give him treats, and pretty much anytime you look at him! Cooper’s happiness is infectious- it is impossible to have a bad day with Cooper around!

Cooper is a 6 year old hound/lab/shepherd? mix who weighs a perfect 52lbs. He is housetrained and can be left alone with free access to the house without getting into any trouble. He walks nicely on a leash, and loves to run around outside or at the dog park. Cooper has a great medium energy level, that makes him an active partner when you bring him outside, and a cuddle buddy inside. He also enjoys trips in the car, where hangs out quietly in the backseat. Cooper is very quiet and non-reactive inside and outside, although he will whine a bit when you leave him home alone. We think that Cooper would be excellent living with people and dogs of all ages, but has been known to chase cats, so for their sake, no cats please! Cooper is well behaved, eager to please, and food motivated, so he is fun to train! So far Cooper knows to come when called, sit, and give paw.

Cooper is currently taking medication to prevent seizures. He has had a few, always weeks or months apart, in his home before coming to Broken Tail Rescue. Now that he is on medication, we are hoping the days of having seizures are behind him. He will likely be on medication for the rest of his life, but our vet doesn't think there is any reason that he won't live a long, healthy life. As a bonus, Cooper eats his one small pill with each meal without issue. We just drop it in his dry food and he happily gobbles it right up!

Is Cooper the dog that you have been waiting for?

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.Cooper Wigglebutt
