Kissy's Story...
Our puppy mill survivor Kissy comes to us from a large scale puppy mill bust out in Oregon. Kissy was transferred to us thru a new program that has been put into place by the ASPCA, B.E.A.R. was very excited to help this organization with the Akitas!
Here is what we have learned about Kissy so far. She is a little unsure when she first meets you, but warms up as soon as you grab her favorite toy to play. Kissy will need a home that can give her the time she needs to trust, and to feel loved. Kissy would do great with a nice male dog who is playful and willing to show Kissy the ropes. She is housebroken and leash trained, and will crate. We feel she would do best in a home with a secured 6 ft fence with owners that will give her the time she needs to overcome what she has endured.

Please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application, or feel free to send us an email and we will respond, or snail mail you an adoption application. Our email address is: bigeastakitarescue@verizon.net and put in the subject line: BEAR APPLICATION

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kissy, a Toms River Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in Toms River, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in Toms River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toms River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toms River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toms River paves the way for another one to be saved.
