Jefferson's Story...
This gentle German shepherd is Jefferson, a 7 year old lover boy that is looking for a fresh start in life. Jefferson came to us from our Newark facility when he was picked up as a stray. His owners were located, but apparently they did not want him back. It's all for the best now, because Jefferson is making friends and loving life! We fear that he spent one too many days outside in his life, but that is all behind him now. Jefferson is relishing in the fact that he now has a warm, cozy bed, good meals, and plenty of friends to dote on him. Jefferson cannot pass someone by without saying hello. He gives you a warm and whiny shepherd hug, then goes about his business of checking things out. Jefferson is very well behaved and sits instantly when asked. He offers you a pawshake for a treat, is very gentle, and walks like a perfect gentleman on a leash. Please don't be put off by his age- Jefferson is strong and has lots of spunk and energy. Jefferson doesn't seem to mind other dogs that are around his age and more easy going. He just loves people and would make a wonderful addition to any loving family that promises to care cherish him forever. File#24445 2/27/15

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jefferson, a Forked River German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Forked River, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
