In April, five little 4 week old puppy sisters were found wandering as strays and brought in to the local shelter. When they were spotted by our volunteer three weeks later, she knew they needed to get out of the shelter and into a foster situation where they could learn the joys of living in a house and running around in a back yard. The shelter was happy to see them go into foster, and so they became the newest fosters in our group.

Perla (based on the Greek word for shy) is one of the larger girls, but the shyest. When she first got to her foster home she ran away whenever her foster mom approached her. After spending an adoption day being held and handled our group of volunteers, this baby is quickly becoming as social as the rest of the sisters. She runs around the house like she has always lived there! And although she enjoys following the family up the stairs, she has not yet gathered her courage to go down the stairs. Given her puppy couriosity and sense of adventure, I would imagine that will change in a day or two, if not sooner. Puppies this age are a huge project, but it is time well spent when the end product is a well behaved, well socialized, well loved dog.

Check the events page on our website for more information and directions to meet our dogs.
