Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jean Claude (Van Damme): 6 to 7 yr old male, four-paw declaw, Silver Shaded Persian
Jean Claude is a elegant name for a lovely Silver Shaded boy, but why the “Van Damme," you ask?
Well, this little 4-paw declaw is no cream puff. He broke out of his carrier on the way to foster with me. No cat has ever broken out of that carrier before. I didn’t know it was possible to break out of that carrier. Yes, of course, I was going 70 miles an hour. I reached into the back seat and felt a head. Yikes! I pushed it back down into the carrier and braked hard. Yes, I know I had the carrier fastened properly. He deformed the plastic. Somehow. Arching his back?? Jean Claude, the wonder cat!!
So, all was well, but I want to tell you he can be a very determined boy, not just a fluffy, little perfect treasure. And good for him. Like a typical Silver, he wants to rule the whole world. I think of most Silvers as being fragile. Not he! He is a strong, resourceful kitty. So cute!
Also, most declawed kitties are scared of other new cats. Again, not he. He is entirely cat friendly whether he has claws or not. I don’t know about dogs.
In the shelter, he was depressed and why not? Someone had bought him as a kitten, declawed all four of his feet, which is unusually severe, and later, they abandoned him at a shelter. I would be depressed, too.
He is a wonderful boy, loving and cuddly. Good natured. He is quite a remarkable cat. I wish I could know his story. He came to me with a fancy groomer’s haircut of very long hair on his cheeks and the rest of him lion cut and growing out. He is currently in the little lambikin stage. He is a beautiful boy with his huge green eyes and plume of a tail. For a Silver Persian, he is a pretty big cat. And yes, he is strong!
He will be great fun for some lucky, new family. Jean Claude seems to be entirely healthy. In the shelter he had a heart murmur, which is why he needed to come to rescue. I know a Persian expert who thinks all Persians in shelters show heart murmurs. It does seem to be common and often transitory. It can also be a sign of something that may be or may become a problem or a sign of something which is no problem at all. My little tiny Persian had a loud murmur which on ultrasound turned out to be a valve closing at the top before emptying from the bottom which was perfectly fine and in no way a problem, but it created a sound called a murmur.
Jean eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
