Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ron and Ricky were taken from a home that was not taking care of them properly. Their feet were VERY overgrown, they were standing in at least 4 feet of packed solid manure and didn't have enough to eat. Lucky for them, someone called the humane officer and they were removed from this so called home.
Thanks to a great blacksmith their feet have been trimmed down. Ron has been gelded and Ricky will be gelded in a few weeks. Ron is VERY loving, loves to be scratched all over his face and hugged! Ricky still isn't so sure about people, but we are continuing to work with him. They both LOVE carrots and Ron will lead now, something he didn't do when he first came. Ricky will NOT leave Ron's side so where ever you lead Ron to Ricky follows.
The vet said Ron is between 3 - 5 years old and Ricky is 5 - 7 years old. Donkeys live to be 30 plus when properly taken care of.
Neither of them will be rideable or able to pull a cart due to their feet condition. They will strictly be pets and pasture buddies for horses, goats, sheep, etc.
As far as special needs, really at this point they just need a blacksmith to continue to work on correcting their hooves so that some day they will look normal. Ricky's feet won't need too much extra care / work but Ron still has a lot of correcting that needs to be done.
