My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a dark ebony female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. She came to the rescue not long ago, and was born around 1/3/2015. This makes her right around 3 months old, and now is the perfect time for her to go to her new home and bond with her new family.

This female is dark ebony in color, this means she is a grayish black all the way around, including her belly. The ebony color means that her belly is the same color as the rest of her; she doesn’t have the classic white belly you see on the average chinchilla.

This girl is very sweet. She’s an active girl and loves bouncing around the cage. She’s a bit more outgoing than some of her cagemates, and is not afraid to come up to the front of the cage. The reason why all the pics are of her close up are because I would put her towards the back of the cage, and she kept coming forward to see what I was doing and to see what was going on. That more outgoing personality is nice to see, as she is less timid and less nervous around people than your average chinchilla is.

She does well with being handled and petted and does not bite. She is a very friendly girl.

She is currently living with several other chinchillas and gets along with them just fine, though we can’t guarantee that she will get along with yours.

This chinchilla would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Mazuri pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. They will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

This dark ebony female is $200 to adopt. If you’d like to get a pair of chinchillas around the same age, we also do have other female chinchillas living with this one. Discounts of $25 will apply to a pair or $50 to a trio of chinchillas adopted out together.
