Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there, my name is Huckleberry. I am a beautiful white-faced red young (about 1 year old) neutered male Akita. I am friendly, gentle, housebroken, and well mannered. I also know some commands. I love taking cookies, and do so ever so gently. I am a big boy at 115 pounds of muscle and still need to gain some weight for my frame. You see, I was found wandering a rural road in Mississippi, a kind lady called animal control and I was taken to the shelter. That was probably a good thing as I could've gotten hurt while out on my own. When I arrived at the shelter I was in pitiful condition, I was covered in mange, and had sores all over my body. Add to that I had to have my right eye removed due to an infection in the muscle that caused it to atrophy. This does not stop me from being my confident self, enjoying walks, and getting lots of loving.
The nice folks here at BEAR feel I would do well in a home that is calm and with children who know how to respect the Akita breed. It is possible I could also live with the right female dog so a meet and greet would be needed. Please no kitties.
