Sheila's Story...
This adorable little lady is Sheila, a 4 year old shihtzu that is eager to start her life over with a loving family. Sheila came to us from our Newark facility when she was picked up as a stray in the middle of the cold winter. She was just skin and bones and in desperate need of a good meal, warm bed, and medical care. She was so happy to be in good hands, and look at our little Sheila now! She is happy, healthy, and ready for a home. Sheila is super sweet and lovable, and makes friends very easily. There is nothing shy about her, and she is happy to be your best friend and have you carry her around after knowing her for just a few minutes. Sheila is well behaved, sits nicely when asked, and walks like a little princess on a leash. She seems to get along just fine with other dogs and cats too, and would fit in perfectly with any loving family that will care for her always. File#24542 3/15/15

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sheila, a Forked River Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
