Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there, my name is Bam Bam and I am a 5 year old Llasa Apso. I am a real special boy, you want to know why? Because the volunteers at IAR really love me. They are helping me find a new forever family. See, here’s my story: I was found at a kill shelter when I was about 2 years ago. I was adopted by a family and lived there but when I lived there I had some problems where things didn’t work out. My family tried to help me but it was too much for them so they came to IAR to help them. IAR not just helps the animals but also people – aren’t they nice? So they took me back but instead of bringing I back to a shelter they took me to a place called a training facility and wow - did that help me. I was there for 2 ½ weeks and I met my trainer, we called him Coach. Coach taught me how to be a well-disciplined, structured dog. When the volunteers saw us come out of the training facility the way I walked they said it looked like I was a dog for a Westminster Dog Show – because I walked so well! So, about me: I walk really well on my leash – I don’t pull. I know my basic commands like SIT, STAY, COME & I SHAKE with just my left paw not my right. Don’t know why - maybe I’m a Southpaw. I live in a foster home right now that has another big dog & we get along great. There’s other dogs that come here to visit and guess what? I am so good from what my Coach taught me, I play! I didn’t do that before … it’s so nice to play & run around. I don’t know if I like cats because I haven’t been around them and for kids, right now because I am studying really hard to be great at my homework we are saying “Caution” for me with kids. I haven’t been around kids so nobody is sure yet. I’m really good inside the house – I don’t bark or I am not a yappy dog. I’m also house trained - no accidents for this guy. At night I sleep in my crate which I don’t mind and I only go on the furniture if you invite me. I really would like to have a home of my own but that home will have to continue with what my Coach has taught me and my Foster Mom can teach you my homework. We work on it every day. I would show you but I don’t know how to read. So how about you call up my Foster Mom for that Meet & Greet and we can play? Until then I will work on my homework and be the best dog. Kisses, Bam Bam.
Bam Bam is located in a foster home in Lindenhurst. He just completed extensive training at TOPS training facility in Greyslake. His forever home will need to continue with his training that he learned so that Bam Bam’s success can continue. Our volunteers will share with you the training guidelines we received so that Bam Bam can continue to be a well-structured, disciplined dog.
