My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please welcome LUKE to Saving Paws! Luke is a stunning, sable boy of 1 year. He was surrendered to his trainer by a couple who was not able to handle the high drive and energy that he has. Luke came from a breeder who emphasizes working dog lines. As Luke started to grow the owners determined they needed help with such a high energy working dog. He was placed in a one month Dog Training Boot Camp with a professional trainer in Glendale, AZ. He was trained on an e-collar for basic obedience. Unfortunately the owners were not able to follow up and Luke lost many of the skills he was taught as a young puppy.
Since then, he has had little to no socialization. He does have some reactivity which would need work and this is expected from a dog that has experienced the kind of isolation he has had. He was not walked and we suspect had no play time with his owners due to their situation. He did grow up with 2 other dogs so with proper introduction and monitoring should do well. He has never been around cats. He has had some exposure to children when he was younger and there were no issues. According to his former owners he likes to go in his crate until the door is closed and they leave. He is able to break out of any crate they tried but does not cause damage once he is out. Luke is currently with the trainer who is working on this and has made some progress. He has had no medical issues during his first year of life.
Luke will even come with some free private training lessons! This is a stunning dog, and a wonderful opportunity for the right family-preferably with breed experience - looking for an energetic companion dog.
