Facts about Tassie

  • Breed: Boxer/Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Brindle
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Female
My name is Tassie and I’m a gorgeous brindle-colored 3-year-old female Boxer-Lab mix looking for a family that can give me lots of attention and exercise. The Labrador in my DNA must be dominant because I love people and I love the water, whether it be the pond at the shelter where I chase our resident duck or the Atlantic Ocean where I chase the waves and dig into the sand. Because I consider myself the best family guard dog ever, my first instinct is to protect my family. I need to be properly introduced when meeting new dogs and other small animals and will need a little time to get used to them before we interact. Crate-training would also be wise so that I will have a secure place to rest when you’re not around to supervise. Give me a bone and I can entertain myself for hours, but you will need to set parameters and provide appropriate things for me to chew on. I know I’ll make a great family pet because volunteers are teaching me basic commands like sit, stay, come and walk on a leash so that when you adopt me I can quickly fit into your home and heart. I weigh approximately 75 lbs. and am up to date on shots, heartworm free and have been spayed. If interested in meeting me please email martowe514@gmail.com or call Margaret at 843-869-3869 for an adoption application.

About Animal Lovers of Edisto Canine Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small 501(C)(3) registered SC Non Profit Charity made up of a group of volunteers who primarily help stray and found dogs in nearby communities in Charleston and Colleton Counties. We exist solely from donations and fund raisers. There are no paid staff members, only volunteers who do this because we love dogs. We take in abandoned and stray dogs when notified, and we accept stray dogs that show up at people's homes or are picked up on the side of the road by locals and tourists alike. We only accept pet surrenders in unusual situations. We help people rehome their pets through Petfinder.com, Adoptapet.com and other social media. Our primary mission is to provide veterinary care, food, shelter and love to get our rescues healthy and socialized enough to be adopted. This includes an initial vet exam, heartworm test, shots, medicines, and spaying or neutering. Volunteers pet, play and walk our rescues at least twice a day. Rescues not in foster homes are kept in a covered outdoor shelter located on Edisto Island. Our rescues can be seen on our Facebook page, Adoptapet.com and Petfinder.com, and by appointment.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Because we are a small all-volunteer rescue group our pets must be seen by appointment. Your first step in adopting one of our pets is to fill out an adoption application. All information on the application must be completed including phone numbers and a vet reference (an old one, or a reason why there is not one) before it will be processed. Please contact Margaret at 843-869-3869 or AnimalLoversOfEdisto@gmail.com for an adoption application, for more information, or to set up a date and time to meet our precious pets.

Our Adoption Process...

We require a minimum adoption donation of $100 to $250 depending on the dog and the amount of money we have invested in vet care. Our application form asks adopters to certify that they have a fenced yard or that the pet will be kept indoors and that the pet will be maintained on heartworm and flea preventative and kept up to date on annual shots. The application also asks adopters to certify that they will ask Animal Lovers for assistance in rehoming the pet in the event they cannot keep it for some reason at any time in the future.
