My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Coco. I am a petite little chocolate beagle. I had a really bad life before Midwest BREW rescued me. I lived outside in kennels all my life with a bunch of other beagles owned by a back yard breeder. Because of my past I am very scared of humans and it is going to take me awhile to be able to trust them. I am very curious though and follow foster mom around the house. But I stay at a distance!
I get along with the other dogs here and follow their lead and am starting to come around. I will come over to foster mom to get petted when the other dogs are with her and I do enjoy sitting on the couch with her and getting petted. At night I sleep in the bed with everyone else. I snuggle right next to foster mom all night because I feel very secure there. In the morning I wake her up by climbing all over her and giving her kisses! And oh my goodness…I discovered BELLY RUBS! It is so awesome!
I love to lie in the grass and enjoying the sunshine. Every now and then I will get this burst of energy and just run laps around the yard. It is so great to have the freedom to be able to do that! I like the other dogs here, but don’t understand this “play” that they do. Maybe someday I will try it. It does look like they are having a good time. Right now I just sit back and watch them.
I’m still working on my house training. I’m getting better at it. Foster mom makes sure she takes me out a lot and I get a nice treat if I potty outside. I never knew there was such a thing as a TREAT!
Since I lived my whole life in crates with other dogs, I really don’t want to go back in one of those and get really upset when I am put in one (too many bad memories from all the time I spent in one). So foster mom sectioned off a room for me to stay in while she is at work and I feel much better there. She gives me a Kong toy with some peanut butter in it and that keeps me busy for a while. That’s another thing I discovered…PEANUT BUTTER! Wow, life is getting to be so good.
Because of how insecure I am I will need to have another dog in my forever home to help me. I also would love to have someone who is home a lot so I don’t have to be left alone for too long.
I’m starting to realize what it is like to be loved and feel safe. I see how happy the other dogs here are, and I really want to have that! I want to have a family of my own where I can be loved for the rest of my life. It is going to take time and patience for me to be able to come around and trust you, but I promise it will be so much worth the time and effort!
Please contact MidWest BREW and ask about me. Foster mom would love to tell you more about me.
