My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a black velvet male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. He came to the rescue not long ago, and was born around 1/15/2015. This makes him right around 4 months old.

This male is black velvet, which is a standard with the TOV (touch of violet) gene. He is dark black on top and has a crisp white belly.

This male is a very nice boy. He’s very active and very curious. It was actually a bit difficult to get a good picture of him, because he kept wanting to come up to the front of the cage and check out the camera and see what was going on. When you get him out of the cage, he does great with being handled and petted. He would likely enjoy some playtime where he could explore the world around him. He doesn’t bite.

We don’t know if he gets along with other chinchillas, but if you’re wanting a companion for your chin, we can definitely try them together and find out.

This chinchilla would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

This black velvet male is $200 to adopt
