My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cupid is a 2 year old male Bichon – Shih Tzu mix.

Cupid was found by Small Paws Rescue on Valentine’s Day and was suffering from severe neglect neglect.

He is now recovered from that period of neglect, though he continues to eat his food as if it's his last meal. He weighs about 16 pounds.

If you’re looking for an alert, intelligent, loveable mate that looks forward to cuddling in your lap so that you can run your fingers through his curly hair, then look no further than Cupid.

This is a dog with beautiful large hazel eyes and tan markings on his hind quarters. Our granddaughters love him and think he’s adorable.

Cupid loves to play with squeaky toys, and frequently seeks the company of Scout, his foster brother, and ourselves.

He’s accustomed to being crated and quietly sleeps in it during the day and the night. If he has to go out once he’s in the crate, he’ll let you know by either scratching the base of the crate or vigorously wagging his tail against the crate walls to get your attention. He’s a low maintenance dude of a guy.
And, if you’re looking for a watch dog who will let you know there’s a stranger in the area fast approaching your door, then you’ve hit the jackpot because Cupid is one of those rare dogs that only barks or howls when his territory is being intruded upon by strangers.
He doesn’t bark at cars, people, or animals merely passing by the house.
He’s housebroken, He typically has to go out about 30 minutes after he’s eaten to take care of his business.
On the leash he’s well behaved, he typically walks at the same pace as the person taking him out, and while he’s interested in the scents emanating from the “Dog Internet."
In the car, he’ a pleasure. He typically jumps into it as soon as I open the door and expects to be secured to the rear seat when he has his harness on. In the car he curls up on the back seat or stretches out on the floor.
When he meets other dogs he gives them the benefit of the doubt and wags his tail excitedly looking forward to meeting them.
For all his self assured news, he doesn’t like to be out after dark by himself, and like most dogs in the Houston area, he has a low tolerance for the heat and humidity. Cupid needs another dog in the home with him or someone that is home most of the time.

Cupid is being fostered in TX
