My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Louie is 5 year old well mannered dog who likes plenty of attention. He came into our home feeling unsure of his new surroundings but his personality has become more trusting and outgoing with each passing day. Lots of attention and reinforcement everyday eased his transition into his new surroundings. He likes to be close to family members during the day by being in the same room and knowing where you are. During the evening when it is time to settle in he does like his alone time. Louie would be fine living with another dog or as the center of attention by himself.

Louie loves to play ball and take walks. These activities will help him slim down a few more pounds (He’s current 75lbs). He gets along fine with our dogs and enjoys playing tug of war with them or with people. He travels well in the car and is not all over the place. He likes to put his nose out the window. We have left him inside the house when running errands without any problems. We have not heard him bark very often. When he is in the house or outside when we are gone there has been no damage. He is not a chewer and does not counter surf when we are preparing meals. He has not had contact with cats since we have had him. That goes with younger children as well.

He does not respond to commands at this time but is a very smart dog who would pick up on training quickly. He is a picky eater and I suspect he was fed people food. It helps to stir in wet food along with his dry. His walking is not that bad but he gets excited when we encounter rabbits or other dogs. We are using a harness setup for him which really helps. Our family is really enjoying him. He has a very good demeanor and easy going personality. Louie would be a great loving family member to whoever adopts him.
