My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have up for adoption a doe (female) dutch rabbit. Her name is Cookie. She is around 4-5 pounds in weight, a medium sized rabbit. She is a dutch rabbit, and has patches of agouti and white on her body. She is not spayed. She is about 1 year old.

Cookie is a very sweet, but very timid rabbit. She is a bit unsure about being picked up, though she is fine with being handled once you have her in your arms. She appreciates a good amount of support under her, and will squirm if she doesn’t feel secure. She gets nervous when there’s a lot of people around. She sometimes flinches / jumps when you go to pet her. Because of all of this, she needs to go to a home with no small children. She is a curious rabbit and likes to explore when we get her out of the cage and put her on the floor. She needs to go to a quiet home where she can be around someone who can give her lots of time and reassurance.

She has never bitten, and she does not act aggressive in any way.

Onto the good stuff – she loves her food. She isn’t picky about what brand of pelleted food you give her, and she eats up her leafy greens, veggies, and carrots like they were going out of style. Not a picky eater at all. Loves her hay as well! Loves to play with any toys or anything else you put in the cage with her. Also, she is litter box trained! Not sure how she would do in a house or a large x-pen (might need to work her up to that), but in her cage here at the rescue, she consistently uses the litterbox. This makes her cage so much easier to clean, as it’s mostly just dumping out the box and refilling it. She doesn’t seem to mind different kinds of litter, she will use whatever is in the box. And she doesn’t mind having her nails clipped.

As she is a larger rabbit, she will need a larger cage. Nothing under 40” long for Cookie, she is a big girl and when she stretches out, there’s a lot of rabbit here! If you’re looking for a rabbit cage, check with us, we may have a used one we can sell.

Cookie will come with 4 pounds of rabbit food, and our rabbit care packet. If you need more supplies, we sell just about everything you might need, from food bowls, to water bottles, to rabbit food, and more!

If interested in adopting, you will be asked to read our rabbit care packet, fill out our rabbit adoption form, and provide proof of cage. No rabbits will go to their new homes without these things being done - no exceptions!

Cookie is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).

The adoption fee for Cookie is $35.
