My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Garrett & I'm a very sweet & active boy. I'm ~3 years old and weigh ~30 lbs. They think I'm a standard doxie mixed with a Golden Retriever and am fully grown. I look like a mini G.R. with short legs. Tee hee. I enjoy being around children & teens as well as other dogs - I love playing with everyone. I am affectionate but don't mind sleeping in a kennel at night. I am potty trained and know several one-word commands. I do love to jump but I am learning to obey. I tend to tug hard on my leash but am hoping you’ll teach me how to not do that anymore. I enjoy lying in the sun, chewing on hard bones, and simply being a part of the family. And most of all, I always clean my bowl when its mealtime.

If you are interested in adopting Garrett, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Garrett 's adoption fee is $275. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Garrett will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
