Peaches's Story...
Arrival story: Peaches was rescued by our group when we were called to Lornich Kennels back on April 23, 2008 by the local authorities. Lornich Kennels was raided and over 60 dogs were in need of help - many in terrible condtion. Peaches was in a filthy pen with 3 other dogs - covered in urine and feces with no food or water in site.

Approximate age: 10 Months - 1 Year Old and 9 lbs.

Personality: Sweet, outgoing, playful, rambuncious - a little spitfire. These are all great words to describe Peaches. She is a confident dog that loves to play and cuddle.

She is currently in a home with dogs of all ages and sizes but her favorite friend is a 4 pound Chihuaha - her foster brother Nacho. They run and play and chew on bones together, sleep together - they do everything together. She is a young dog that needs guidance. She likes to "find things" on the floor (like shoes and hand towels) and then drag them over to her bed to play with. By the end of the night, she has normally collected a little mountain of stuff! Once tired though, she LOVES to curl up on your lap for a few kisses and a snooze.

She is doing very well with her potty training but she still will have the occasional accident if her foster mom is not careful. Because she lived outside for so long, it will take her a little time to get the big picture but with consistency and patience, she will learn what is right.

Forever home: Peaches cannot be adopted out until the kennel owner officially signs off on ownership of the dogs but that is expected to take place on 5/23/08. If you want to be considered, please fill out an application and once the dogs are released, we can begin the adoption process.

Peaches is very sweet and friendly but a little mouthy when playing so she cannot go to a home with small children under the age of 8. She loves to play and should go to a home with another playful dog, although it should be said that Peaches is a little bossy with other dogs her size at times. She is also a little yapper when excited (when you first come home from work or first thing in the morning before going outside) so keep that in mind if you are in a condo or apartment.

Pre-Adoption Application::

To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to sashnmax@yahoo.com.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at PetSmart in Northville (on Haggerty Rd between 6 and 7 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peaches, a Northville Brussels Griffon dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Brussels Griffon for sale in Northville, or seeking a Brussels Griffon dog from a breeder in Northville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Northville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Northville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Brussels Griffon breeders who help with Brussels Griffon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Northville paves the way for another one to be saved.
