Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bert is a a handsome young male, not yet 2 years old and tall enough to effortlessly lay his chin on your kitchen counter. He was raised inside with a cat and small dog, and is house trained. Bert's special need is due to his personality. He is skittish, quite shy with new people and very afraid/untrusting of men. He likes and makes up with women pretty quickly. He sounds the alarm when he see someone new and can sound pretty intimidating (like all Great Pyrenees), but is not aggressive and will always try to retreat. He has never even raised a lip at the vet, groomer or here at the rescue even when very frightened. Once he trusts you he is a big wonderful goof who likes to play with a frisbee. He enjoys playing and hanging out with his new friend Luna, another rescue here at GPRCI.
Bert will need an adopter willing to work with him on socialization and conquering some of his fear but also willing to accept him for who he is. He may never be a social butterfly but he will love his person with every ounce of being.
Please visit our web site at www.gprci.com for adoption information. Our adoption application can be completed on line or downloaded. A securely fenced yard is required for adoption of our rescues with very few exceptions. Great Pyrenees Rescue of Central Illinois is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit and is licensed by the State of Illinois.
Donations are always greatly appreciated and are used for the vet care, food and housing of the dogs in our rescue/sanctuary.
