My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello. My name is Mietta and my foster mom keeps telling me I am so sweet and precious. I am not sure what that means but it makes me feel good. She also says someone really wonderful and loving is going to take me home with them and take extra good care of me. That is just what I need because I haven't had an easy life. I can't really tell you what happened but DREAM Dachshund Rescue took me out of that awful place called animal control and have been nursing me back to health ever since.

I am a mature age. I am not sure what is in human years but I am in great shape. My foster mom also tells me how cute I am. She says I look like a little teddy bear. When people see me in person they say things like; "adorable", "look at those cute ears", "what a sweet girl". I guess I just have IT.

I have a bit of a "hitch in my step" from an old injury but that does not stop me from bouncing around like a bunny when there is the hint of food being prepared in that wonderful place the bipeds call a kitchen. I don't have as many teeth as I used to but foster mom makes sure my food is soft. Because of health issues she has to put special medicine in my food. She is confident this will help me live a long and full life. Because of that "hitch in my step" I need to be carried up and down stairs. I can do it but foster mom says it is not good for me. I do like it when we go for short walks in the grass. It feels so good on my paws!

If I am kept on a regular schedule I don't have accidents in the house and I don't mind being in my crate. In fact, sometimes I like to just go into the crate on my own and take a nap. It really is soft and cozy and makes me feel so comfy.

I am very content to just hang out on the couch or right next to you and I don't make a fuss when the evil mailman comes or when there are other dogs around. I just love people because they pet me and give me treats sometimes. I am not into hunting small creatures and I don't like to dig because I am too much of a dainty lady for those type of things. I weigh around 8lbs. and my fur is soft and silky because my foster mom gives me baths when we have spa days. I let her comb my fur if she is really gentle. I absolutely love the blow dryer. It feels like the wind blowing in my fur.

I hope you find me, forever family. I promise to love you with all my heart and give you the best kisses ever.

If you are interested in adopting Mietta, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Mietta 's adoption fee is $275. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Mietta will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
