In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you!
Hello, I’m Layla! I’m 7 years old, weigh 14 pounds and have very soft gray hair and vivid white markings. I am all Shih Tzu, and have the sweet personality of that breed. I love the cuddling and tummy rubbing that is so enduring in cute little ones like me. Presently I live with foster parents and their dog and we all sleep in the same bed nightly. I hope my new family will let me do the same because I love their bed so. There is a large fenced yard so I can run like the wind and explore the gardens and chase the squirrels. If I see strangers I give a couple warning howls that a dog or person is approaching. Other than alerting my foster mom that someone is at the door, I am quiet most of the time. I am very polite, want to please you and will almost always ask for permission to sit on your lap or beside you rather than just jumping up next to you. I love to play with lots of small toys and will bring them to you and ask you to toss them for me. I come when I’m called and don’t have accidents inside. I’d love a family where someone is home most of the day, and because I have lots of happy playful energy, I need some long daily walks on a leash.
My former home left me alone for 12 or hours a day and said they had no time for me. I was physically and emotionally neglected and needed some medical attention, but since coming into rescue, seeing the veterinarian, and getting some TLC from my foster mom, I have gotten better every day. I show no more signs of the problems that arose from the neglect and will have my final check up at the specialty veterinarian on June 10th. The veterinarian will then determine if I need any future medication. But so far so good, and I’m feeling just great!
Layla is spayed, current on vaccinations, on heartworm/flea and tick preventative and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $220.00 plus sales tax of $16.01, for a total of $236.01. Her foster mom would like her adopters to live within a reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities and be willing to commit to attending the annual Rescue Reunion each June.
To meet Layla, please complete an adoption application. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the last Saturday of every month.
