My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID

Maggie is a sweet old girl who was surrendered at a shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. At 11 years old and with some old trauma to her back end Fuzzy Pawz knew that a shelter was no place for her so they placed her into a foster home.

She is a sweet old girl but has some habits that she learned at a young age. Maggie can be snarky with other dogs at first, but is now attempting to play with the foster dogs in her home; she just needs to know where she fits in the household. So it will be a matter of just finding the right doggie fit for her. She does not do great with cats and to be honest we think Maggie would thrive and love to be an only pet. Maggie is also a chow hound and we swear she can manage to tip a garbage can over from across the room; her foster mom is working on this with her!

Maggie has some paralysis in her back end. Poor old thing has to drag her back legs up a single step. She isn’t in any pain and is good natured about it. She has some thinning fur on her back legs and tail from this. She gets along great on a flat surface and will follow her nose everywhere! She can run and play with the best of them, it appears that only the steps is hard for her.

The down side of the trauma to her hind quarters is that she sometimes poops in the house. The only reason is that she can't always make it to the door fast enough. She is house trained and knows how to use the dog doors, she just doesn't quite make it sometimes. She seems to be able to hold the pee until she gets out though; best guess is that she doesn’t always get the feeling she has to poop until it’s almost too late. Someone who can let her out regularly and that has a dog door would be the perfect fit; please keep in mind that she is doing well at her foster home on a feeding schedule so she can be let out when she needs to go.

Maggie bonds very quickly with people and is an absolute doll. She comes when you call her, eats like a lady, loves to sit and snuggle. She loves chew toys but just rips them up so something more substantial would be best. Oh and she LOVES to ride in the car! She loved her recent trip to Cascade and is a very alert little watch dog (so yes she barks).

She is a low maintenance dog who is just looking for a low key home to love her like she deserves.

Maggie is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
