SHANE is a 4-year old, red, tri-colored Border Collie mix. He has a medium length, easy care coat and soulful eyes. He is the type of dog that everyone seems to like! SHANE gets along well with all of the other dogs at his foster home, though his preference seems to be to hang with people. SHANE loves to be petted and will lay his head in your lap for strokes or belly rubs or lay nearby as you work on your computer or tend the yard. We had some construction going on at the house recently and all of the workers loved SHANE. He would sit calmly by and watch them work.
SHANE is mellow when in the house and minds you when he is spoken to, though he tends to be submissive when interacting with him. He’ll sometimes go to his belly and crawl to you. SHANE was previously an outdoor dog that was left home for long periods so he may be making up for the previous attention void by being a very affectionate boy…..he cannot get enough loving’ and gives love back tenfold!! He loves to go on walks and will keep an eye on you so you do not wander out of his sight. He is very well trained at walking off leash (in safe and appropriate areas) and comes readily when called. He is, also, an excellent car traveler. Another foster mom who dog sat SHANE for us recently also reports he did fine with their cat.
SHANE has been a pleasure to have around and a well-mannered guest in his foster home. He has not had any accidents in the house. He sleeps quietly through the night in a crate and awakens with a smile, a wiggle and a wag of his tail, ready to start the day or accompany you as you start yours.
SHANE would do best with a person or family that can spend the time to build his confidence and make him feel loved. Being a Border Collie, of course, SHANE is a smart dog but, has not had the attention or much in the way of apparent raining. Nonetheless his natural behavior makes him a well-mannered, all-around happy boy. In sum, he is a great dog! We are looking for a forever, loving home for this wonderful dog, who is very deserving of a wonderful life!
SHANE is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
