My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SKYLAR
8 year old, Female, Blue Point Ragdoll

COURTESY POST: Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

It takes a special cat to work in a vet hospital. This beautiful girl has done a great job of gracing their reception counter for three years now. She is such a lap cat that this busy vet hospital finally decided she really deserved a lap that would stay still under her. They regretfully think a family and a home environment would be better for her.

Here is what they say about her: "Skylar is a sweet, beautiful, spayed, 8 year old Ragdoll girl. She was surrendered by her owner who could no longer care for her, due to personal circumstances. She is a lap-cat and would love to cuddle all day. She is very mellow in temperament, purrs like a motorboat, and LOVES to eat! She has a history of mild kidney problems, but is otherwise very healthy, and very much enjoys her special food that keeps her kidneys in good shape. She gets along well with small dogs, but has some fear of big dogs, and would prefer not to share a home with large canine companions."

It is not surprising that they describe her as a mellow girl. This is what Ragdolls are known for. They are gentle loving cats. If you are looking for a kitty to watch old movies late into the night with you, a Ragdoll is a good choice. Skylar is a fairly small kitty; her full coat makes her look bigger than she really is. She’s a nice little armful. Her beautiful, medium-length coat is relatively trouble free and does not mat up the way a Persian cat's does. Running a comb through her lovely coat once a week is generally all that's needed.

Skylar loves attention and is quite a ham for the camera. She has a little of the diva in her: “I am beautiful and I know it and I expect to be loved and pampered. Are you watching me?” And what could be more fun? Today, she showed us how much she loves catnip and rolled about in it on the front desk acting like a 2 year old. I could not get any photos because she would not lie still and pose for me as she wiggled about. It was so adorable.

This beautiful, well-behaved girl will make some family an excellent companion. She needs a family that will be around to give her love most of the time. She is not a good fit for a family that is away all day working and home only in the evenings. She would be great for a multi-generational family with kids or grandkids over four feet. She could also be a companion to someone who was home most of the time and really wanted her sweet company.

She eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
