Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dixie is a 2-3 year old 10 pound Bichon who came to us from animal control. Dixie had been picked up as a stray on the streets. We don't know how this little cutie ended up on the streets, but she did.
At the time we first met Dixie, she had drainage coming out of both ears and her ears were caked with the dischaarge. She had a very, very severe ear infection. Once we touched Dixie, we realized that her thick coat was matted like a carpet against her skin and only the outer fringe was fluffy and tangle free.
Fortunately, Dixie had to be sedated to flush and treat her ears, so while she was unconscious, we carefully cut away all the matted hair that was like a tight girdle on her body. So what you see is Dixie with about a 1/2 inch growth of hair. In six months she will again be a densely-coated gorgeous fluff ball of hair.
