Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet little Danny: He's a sweet 2 year old 16 pound Shih Tzu that ended up in Animal Control. Danny is super happy, sweet and loving. Danny ended up at animal control because his owner said he had nipped at their child.
When we reach out to pet Danny, he ducks his head as though he has been hit on the head in the past. He is happy to be petted on his back or under his chin, but if you reach over his head he will back away from you. He never shows the slightest bit of aggression. Our conclusion is that Danny was the victim of abuse.
As soon as we got him home, we gave him a bath to kill all his fleas, cleaned his dirty ears and then towel dried him all over. Danny loved the attention. He immediately figured out to use the doggie door and has thus far shown that he is housebroken. He is still hand shy when we reach over the top of his head, but he's never shown even the slightest inclination to curl his lip.
Here is his foster mom's report on Danny:
"Physically, he eats well and poops well accordingly, usually a.m. He is used to at least a mile walk when we first roll out of bed; he and my dog sleep with me. However, if he and my dog have to wake me, they love snuggling time and prolong it. My dog is able to hop down from the high (antique) bed but Danny cannot. If he doesn't get lifted down in his time frame, he whines loudly
Danny is a very loving dog to one owner, definitely female. He would be a good dog in a duo or a group,but dogs would need to be of similar size. Although he socializes well with other dogs,he doesn't seem to like boxers, pit bulls or mixes or German shepherds that he has met.
Danny still has issues with meeting new people. And I don't think Danny would ever attack or bite anyone. He is in bed with me all night every night and all is great!
This dog is great, not to mention precious."
Danny has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $250.00.
