My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they're homeless in rural Oklahoma. A giving and kind rescuer temporarily took Copper in to prevent her from the horrors of a high-kill Oklahoma shelter. Farfel's was contacted about the great personality and over- the- top cuteness of this special puppy and couldn't turn away. Copper deserves a great home and loving guardians just as much as any sweet and engaging puppy with a great temperament.

Copper, at just 14 weeks old and 15 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever began. ...she was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Schnauzer/Terrier mix...a very popular new breed mix that's loved for their cuteness ( such beautiful markings), a silky-soft coat and the most engaging of personalities... is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of Copper's temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Her Oklahoma foster said the following about sweet Copper:
Copper is truly a gem! She has the kind of temperament that we all search for in a family dog! She has been nothing but great since she arrived at my house. She's positive and perfect with other dogs. She's also been great with my my 8-year old and her friends (I imagine she would be equally great with all ages of kids that are gentle with her, but I haven't seen her with any younger than 8). I'm amazed that Copper's excelled in her potty training since she's just a baby...but she's having virtually no accidents! She's also learning the leash with lightening speed (my kids can even walk her) and...oh joy...she's got her night routine down and sleeps the night away in her crate without a peep!

Copper is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of this breed mix. She's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but sometimes puppy energy calls and then it's fun and entertaining antics!).

Copper clearly has no memory of her scary start. Since she is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. She will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world as well as positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Copper finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Copper is great with children and other dogs as well. We would prefer to place her in a home with a bit older children that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.

Copper is up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Oklahoma, however a puppy like Copper is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Copper to be spayed, micro chipped and given her second puppy shot at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a health-conscious part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Copper will be arriving on transport in Denver on 8/28/15. If interested in this beautiful, sweet as can be and very fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
