I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Murray's Story...
Murray is an estimated 4 years old and weighs 6.6 lbs.  He is a very well behaved dog that enjoys just being with you or curling up with you on the couch.  He is house trained but is currently using papers when his foster mom can't get home in time.  He rides well in the car and enjoys walking on a leash.  He is a very sweet dog and is UTD on shots, neutered and on HW preventative.  He has a grade III/VI heart murmur but is currently showing no signs of this.  He gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters.  We don't know anything about his background other than he came from a shelter in NC and was taken to Angels of Assisi in Roanoke VA.

If you think you might be interested in Murray, please go to and fill out an adoption application. Once you submit the application, we’ll be right back in touch with you. Thank you for making adoption your first option.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so he can only be adopted in NC/SC and VA. If you have any questions, please contact

His adoption donation is $200.00.

If you are interested in volunteering as a foster for CRT, please go to and read our volunteer policy and then go to the link that takes you to the volunteer application page, choose your state and email the volunteer whose email automatically comes up and ask for an application to foster.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Murray, a Durham Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Durham, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Durham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Durham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Durham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Durham paves the way for another one to be saved.
