My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TJ is a sweet & happy senior beagle basset mix that arrived at Penny Angels on Saturday, 9-26-15! He is all ready to find his new forever family, too! He is approx. 10 years old and weighs about 32 lbs. TJ was very much loved by his foster mom and she had wonderful things to share about him:

“TJ was truly a last minute save by Penny Angels Beagle Rescue. He had been at a high kill shelter in South Carolina for more than a month. A rescue had said they were coming, but they didn’t, and TJ’s time was up. A plea was sent to PABR to save this sweet, senior boy and they responded with a yes. TJ left the shelter with only hours remaining and went to his foster home in South Carolina.

“I have been asked if TJ’s initial stood for something. My answer was always no until I sat down to write his bio then I realized that T.J.’s initials do stand for something – True Joy – because that is what every minute of every day is with this sweet, older gentleman and it is the way he lives. From the minute I met him at the shelter, his tail has not stopped wagging and he has not stopped smiling. His whole body wiggles with joy when you talk to him or scratch him on the head, but if you really want to see TJ in action, just show that boy a treat or his food bowl! Oh, how he dances and smiles!

“He is so happy all the time and gets along wonderfully with his foster siblings – male and female, large and small. From the first minute, he blended in with our foster pack as if he had known them all his life. The pleasant surprises just kept coming with TJ. Although he had ridden home from the shelter without a sound, I never imagined that TJ was not only crate trained at home, but he truly loved his crate! WOW! That has never happened with any of my fosters! However, he is just as happy to stretch out on a doggy bed near you or snuggled up next to you on the bed with his belly in the air and his tail wagging.

“But there is more, so much more, with this boy! TJ is so quiet. He rarely makes a sound. Even when the rest of the pack is barking because of the doorbell or a squirrel in the yard, TJ doesn’t bark. He just wags his tail and smiles. And what else? TJ is housebroken and leash trained. What good fortune and a blessing it has been to have TJ in my home. I know that TJ will make another family as happy as he has made ours because every minute of every day with TJ is True Joy.

“My whole family agrees that TJ has been one of the sweetest and easiest foster dogs that has ever entered our home. It is truly with great sorrow in our hearts that TJ leaves us and heads out to found a new family, but a family of his own is what TJ truly deserves. He has so much love to give. Please give this handsome fellow a chance to fill your life with True Joy. You won’t regret it.”
