My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ROONEY
Born April 2006, Male, Purebred Blue British Shorthair
Bonded with Wynter; must be adopted together

Rooney is a gorgeous sweetheart who would like nothing more than to be brushed and adored. He likes to take his time in getting to trust, but his affection is well worth the effort, once you have earned it. Gentle persistence and knowing when to give him his space is all he needs. This special boy is bonded with his equally special girlfriend Wynter and they must be adopted together.

Rooney was purchased from an area British Shorthair breeder. His former owner, a loving woman who absolutely adored this boy, contacted our organization. She was extremely sad and upset that she had to give up her two beloved kitties because her baby boy is severely allergic to the kitties. Having to give up your precious four-legged companions is never an easy task and when she dropped them off, we could tell she was absolutely heartbroken about it. We promised her that we will take great care of them and foster them until we can find them a loving and caring forever home.

She let us know that Rooney is one of those special kitties that sits, shakes paws, and used to fetch for toys. Well, ok, he is more of a lounge kitty now, which simply translates to the fact that he is very content with just being brushed and petted; in other words, you won’t find him jogging around the house at high speed. As you can see in his pictures, he sure knows how to show off his tummy and his big paws. I am sure he thinks to himself that he is the cat’s meow, which he clearly is.

Rooney is a kitty that will develop a very strong bond to his human (it might be of the female kind)...though it will take some time. He was very much bonded to his owner and had been a sad kitty after he was dropped off at his foster mom's. Thankfully, his foster mom is very experienced and has very kitty savvy and calm children who are bringing out the best in him, so with time and patience we know he will become the love bug that he is meant to be.

Meanwhile his charming and adorable girlfriend Wynter is around to keep him company. They like to play together often. British Shorthairs are described as plush, affectionate friends with the smile of the Cheshire Cat and the temperament of man's other best friend. “A loving teddy bear that purrs” describes this wonderful and special breed.

Rooney eats a special diet to prevent urinary crystals.
He is fostered in Santa Cruz.
