My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Happy Fall all! My name is Sonny. I am a young (1-2 year old), 15 lb, neutered male rat terrier/fox terrier mix. At least that's the theory. My foster mom thinks I am as sweet as sweet can be. I am a little timid around new people but I don't bark or growl when I am scared. Instead I run away or shake all over. I don't want to hurt anyone but it takes me awhile to trust that no one wants to hurt me. I just love to be petted. I put my paws up on my foster mom's lap to let her know I want some love. I am housetrained but a few times I have left my calling card where it wasn't wanted.. Hey, it smelled like I wasn't the first one to leave a calling card there. How was I to know that that would be frowned upon? Anyway, I know now. I am good in my crate. To be honest, I would rather not be in there but if you insist, I will curl up in my bed and wait quietly for you to decide to let me out. I like other dogs. A dog my own size to play with would be loads of fun. My foster dog brother is a lot bigger than me and sometimes he scares me a little. He makes a great bodyguard though when we go out at night.
I am a really fast runner and I come when I am called. You can call me anything. I respond to your voice more than to my name. Because I am a speed demon, I pull a bit on the leash. A harness would probably be the best bet for me. I am good on car rides. I stay in back and enjoy the scenery. I am a very quiet guy. You will rarely hear a bark out of me. This makes me an excellent choice for apartment living.
Cooler weather is coming and you will really appreciate a small dog you can snuggle up with. I could be that dog. I am up to date on all my shots, negative for heartworm and Lyme Disease and am microchipped. Did I mention that I am really, really cute ? I am just about perfect if I do say so myself.
Here's my idea...why don't you follow the link below and fill out an adoption application. After that we can set up a time to meet and see how we feel about each other. Can't wait to meet you.
If you are interested in finding out more about Sonny, please fill out an application.

Sonny is being fostered in Franklin, MA and his adoption fee is $375.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
