My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roman
Born June 2015-male Black and White Maine Coon Mix
Special Adoption fee $75

As you may remember Finn, now known as Roman (Romie, for short) was rushed into the vet as an Emergency by a couple who saw an unleashed neighborhood dog attack this beautiful little kitten on August 27th. The dog had the kitten's head in his mouth! They somehow managed to get the kitten away from the dog and immediately brought it to our vet. Roman came in screaming in pain, covered in blood, and with his head and face swollen almost beyond recognition. After a full set of x-rays, and lots of very quick ER care, it was determined that his jaw was broken and dislocated and he was so swollen he couldn’t eat or drink. He had to be given IVs, pain medication, and antibiotics for his wounds. He couldn't eat on his own, so he had to be syringe fed a liquid diet for a several days so he could survive. Everyone in the clinic pitched in to save this little guy and he was such a good patient. The surgeon initially thought Roman would need surgery. However, around day 10, Roman was able to eat and drink son his own. Lots of fantastic vet care and love got him there! Roman's recovery is truly a testament to the resiliency that cats have. They are truly amazing creatures.

Oh...Roman’s temperament? He is a love. Medium energy, not a crazy kitten: A purr bucket that loves to be held. He’s very gentle, and he doesn’t bite. With his Maine Coon heritage, he makes that cute trilling noise. He loves to cuddle, play, and follow you around the house. He is really sweet and very social. He likes other cats and despite everything he had gone through, is very trusting. Roman continues to be fostered with the veterinarian who saved this wonderful kitten. She feels he is ready to be posted and ready for adoption....before she decides to keep him! This one is a real gem.

Romie would do best in a house with no dogs or small children and a quiet household. He would love to be adopted in a home with another feline as a companion.

Roman is fostered in the Davis area.
